Blockbuster edition of Dubai’s premier hat event to feature over 500 fabulous fascinators, hats and headpieces ahead of the 20th Dubai World Cup

As the 20th Dubai World Cup approaches, BurJuman is set for a blockbuster edition of the International Millinery Exhibition – Dubai’s premier hat event, which has been crowning the heads of über-stylish race-goers for the past fourteen years.
Bringing together some of the world’s most coveted milliners, this year’s exhibition welcomes new faces making waves in the world of hat making alongside popular names from previous editions. One such newcomer is Dubai-based British milliner Lucy Dantec-Hodges, whose work for international label Herald & Heart included designing the hats for classic movieFour Weddings and a Funeral. Also making an inaugural appearance is the last Master Milliner in Styria, Austria – the talented Christine Rohr, whose skill and passion for her craft led her to found an Academy with the aim of cultivating a new generation of budding hatmakers.
One of the returning milliners is Philip Wright – a third-generation milliner who is now running the family company’s label Walter Wright based in the UK and was a former judge at the Dubai’s Style Stakes. A sought-after name at the races, Philip’s commissioned work includes designing hats for members of the royalty, dignitaries and celebrities.
Other names to watch out for at the exhibition include Sandy Aslett from Australia, a corporate-professional turned millinery expert who is bringing to Dubai pieces from her line ‘Hats by Sandy A’. Returning milliners bringing a completely new collection of hats for the 20th Dubai World Cup include Ita Kingsley, Christiane Edmondson, Liza Georgia and Jennifer Bell.
The largest event of its kind in the region, the 2015 exhibitionwill feature over 500 varieties of headwear, from statement hats to delicate fascinators. Reflecting Spring/Summer 2015 fashion trends on the runway, the range of headpieces will encompass bold florals, bohemian glamour, lace, bright colours and monochrome designs.
