20 July 2005, DUBAI Under the auspices
of the Dubai Electricity and Water Department (DEWA), Ice Surprises, the
fifth week of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2005, is now underway at
BurJuman, the region's premier shopping destination.
The mall will be playing host to variety shows, workshops and a number
of entertainers including the 'Balloon Man', face painters and magicians.
From now until July 27, visitors to the mall will get the opportunity
to enjoy the 'coolest' variety shows including the marching carnival with
the Ice Queen and her many companions, everyday from 6.00-6.25 pm and
then repeated at 8 pm and the 'Ice Skating Show' daily from 6.30-7.00
pm and again from 8.30-9.00 pm, where experienced skaters show off their
talents on a ice rink specially created for this event.
On July 24, 'Balloon Man' will visit the mall and entertain audiences
every hour on the hour from 5.00-10.00 pm with a one-of-a-kind show, which
includes him sliding his body into a giant balloon.
"Looking at the exciting line-up of activities and shows planned
at BurJuman, it is safe to say that a visit to the mall is just what the
doctor ordered to beat the summer heat this DSS," said Sabina Khandwani,
head of research and marketing, BurJuman.
The 'Snowman' show featuring 7 lovable characters who enact a typical
day in winter will take place on July 26 from 5 pm onwards at BurJuman.
In addition to this, a number of ice-inspired cartoon characters can be
found at the mall for photo opportunities from 5.00-10.00 pm on July 27.
Magicians and face painters will be providing endless hours of entertainment
throughout the fun-filled week from 5 pm daily at the mall's popular food
court. Children are also invited to check out the maze in the special
ice-cave that has been constructed on the glass bridge, from 5.00-10.00
pm daily.
Throughout Ice Surprises, Baskin Robbins will host a number of competitions
from 7.30-9.30 pm including daily ice-cream eating contests where participants
can win gift hampers and vouchers courtesy the popular ice-cream vendor.
As part of its efforts to reach out to the less fortunate children in
the UAE, BurJuman has also set up a special 'Shatoor' tent, where shoppers
can get Arabic henna tattoos, get their faces painted and buy items for
sale, with proceeds going to the Beit Al Khair orphanage.
Ice Surprises is the fifth week of DSS which is being held for the eighth
consecutive year from June 22 to September 2, 2005. The 10-week, multi-venue
summer recreational extravaganza is held under the theme 'Big Fun for
Little Ones'.
