From statement furniture to metal work, plastic art to graffiti, miniature jewellery to make up art, creative expression will be given a free hand from 21st February to 2nd March, as BurJuman hosts the expanded new edition of Art Nation.
Opening minds with unconventional art forms, Art Nation is a show that is conceptualized to offer opportunities to artistic talent in the region to express their creativity without any boundaries or restrictions.
“We encourage and offer a platform to the numerous talented artists residing in the UAE with events such as Art Nation. The aim of Art Nation is to make art approachable to everyone, hence BurJuman seemed like an ideal venue as it is located in the heart of Dubai and has a management who is incredibly supportive of the local art scene, which has made it possible for Art Nation to attract more than 50 artists this year,” says Zareen Khan, Founder of w2w events.
“The art on display at Art Nation redefines what people usually consider to be art and takes it to the level of a live performance. People can watch these incredible pieces being created right before their eyes and get a first-hand look at the creative process in action. BurJuman has always encouraged and supported local artistic talent and hosting Art Nation 2013 at the mall is a great way to start a year full of community-led events,” says Sabina Khandwani, Head of PR & Marketing at BurJuman.
Highlighting some very young and promising talent from the UAE – Art Nation 2013 will feature more than 50 artists. Ones to watch include Ashwin Pillai, a doctor by profession and an artist by passion who will showcase 3D art; Abdul Karim who is a self taught artist and architect by profession – his precise and accurate line drawings are a treat for any art lover; celebrated Virgin DJ and style icon Simone Heng will take the stage to share fashion tips with guests from her cheapnchic.net site; Doods Capiral from the creative company Lateral Passage will create an exclusive 3D Mural at Art Nation; Maria Iqbal a contemporary artist who paints on furniture will work live at the show along with a 9-year-old house DJ who will play tunes for her to paint.
