Join the annual BurJuman Pink Walkathon at a new venue and take the right steps to beat breast cancer this November!
BurJuman’s Safe & Sound campaign, one of most extensive Breast Cancer Awareness Programmes in the Middle East, announced that its biggest and popular community driven annual event – the Safe & Sound Pink Walkathon – is set to take place on November 2, 2012 at 8.30 am.
An annual charitable, non-competitive event aimed at raising both awareness and funds for breast cancer, the Safe & Sound Pink Walkathon will this year take place with an easy, new 2 km route that sets off from Zabeel Park, Gate 1, Area A. With the Pink Walkathon attracting its biggest ever participation in 2011, the new venue has been chosen to accommodate the large number of walkers and provide them with a lovely and picturesque environment.
As with each year, a morning of fun and enjoyment awaits for the whole family. The entertainment schedule will have live musical acts and performances, a children’s area, a fantastic bazaar, eats and treats, roaming entertainers and more.
The yearly Pink Walkathon has been a resounding success since it began in 2003. Last year saw close to 13,000 women, men and children participate in the walk.
“The Pink Walkathon is all about getting people to be proactive and supportive in the fight against breast cancer. The walkathon targets everyone – women, men and children and we have received a tremendous response from the UAE community from the very first year we took to the streets to spread the message that “early detection saves lives”. We hope that more people join us this year to fight this critical disease and together make a powerful impact whilst enjoying a funfilled event at the park,” says Sabina Khandwani, Spokesperson of Safe and Sound and Head of PR and Marketing at BurJuman.
